So I hired a local SEO company. Now what?
Any SEO company that’s doing it right is going to need your help. So clients should get involved from the outset! Ask about deliverables to make sure you get the best possible results from a SEM campaign. By working closely with your SEO consultant; imparting your valuable insight and industry knowledge to ensure your search engine marketing consultant clearly understands your goals.
When should I bring in an SEO specialist?
It’s a good time to hire a consultant if you’re considering a website makeover or a new website. This makes sure you get off to a good start with a search engine friendly website design. We could give you the complete definition of website optimisation, but we’d probably send you off to sleep. In simple terms, it’s a measure of how well your site is loved by site visitors and search engines like Google.
Should I ask my SEO company for deliverables?
Clearly define your web marketing strategy and target audience(s) and be specific! It’s surprising how often we receive vague objectives from our clients. So we’d encourage clients to work with the consultant to clarify these points right at the start of a website makeover or a new website. This makes sure you get off to a good start with a search engine friendly website design.
SEO was an integral part of the web development process for the UK’s #1 site for new, new old stock, OE, reproduction and used VW Karmann Ghia goodies. Californian Classics Ltd were offered an extensive, ‘borderline obsessive’ competitor research report and action plan to catapult their SERP rankings. Every targeted keyword put Californian Classics on page #1 of SERPS and accounted for almost half all site visitors. Traffic jumped up an extra 5700 page views in a single month!
A search engine marketing campaign that doesn’t evolve is quickly left for dust. A good SEO campaign is designed to boost you higher in the search engine listings—and keep you there. This can be achieved using a blend of ethical SEO and search engine marketing strategies to give your business some oomph!
So what should you be focussing on? Matt Cutts, former head of the web spam team at Google summarises the top 5 areas consultants need to focus on in this video.
We used SEO and Pay-Per-Click marketing to funnel potential customers to Cat 5 Cabling Ltd. Over a 12 month campaign we managed to boost sales in a very competitive marketplace. In 2014 Signature helped the company hit record sales. Working on a fixed budget, we researched and identified profitable keywords/phrases before optimising the ‘heck’ out their blog site! We also created an optimised geo targeted ppc campaign to achieve lower CPC & Increase CTR.
So don’t get burnt by SEO companies. Do your research first!
Look for a SEO company with experience in your industry and ask for examples of previous success stories. Before you sign a contract or hand over your money familiarise yourself with how search engines work. Ask yourself if the service you are buying is really what you are looking for and how much you can afford.
Also think carefully about how you are going to measure the results. Above all do not be persuaded into hiring search engine marketing services on a whim.
Be realistic about your marketing budget. Budget considerations are very important these days and some consultants may cut corners. We don’t recommend this practice because under investment means there is a real danger of your campaign failing to meet your goals and business objectives.
